Master the true art of Maternity photography in studio! This workshop will explore many techniques and strategies to take your maternity photography to the next level. Course includes posing, various lighting techniques, stylizing the mother with fabric, editing workflow, and specialized retouching techniques. This one-day, 9 hour workshop is designed to equip you with several new techniques you can implement in your own businesses. Date: Saturday, November 9, 2019Time: 8:30 – 6:30 Schedule Morning Session: 8:30am to 12:00pm – Maternity shoot in studio with two mothers. We will be utilizing dresses and stylizing fabric to make our own dresses. We will explore posing options with our mothers. In addition, we will be using multiple lighting techniques and working with different backgrounds. We will also explore a variety of lighting scenarios to showcase the different styles you can do. 12:00pm to 1:00pm – Lunch break 1:00pm to 6:30pm – This block of time will focus on editing and retouching the images we took in the morning. Whether you are an aspiring wedding or Quinceañera photographer, this is the workshop for you. This is a hands-on 2 day workshop that focuses on the wedding workflow from booking the client to delivery of your final products. We will have an actual wedding couple to practice with and will be practicing inside a church and a reception hall. Topics to be addressed are as follows: 1. You have booked a wedding, now what? Organization, Communication, Timeline. 2. Preparing your gear for the event and working with what you have. 3. Establishing a timeline and stick to the plan. 4. Always have a PLAN B. What to do when problems arise. 5. Photographing the details. 6. Bridal Prep/Groom Prep on location. 7. Photographing the ceremony. Learn important pitfalls you can easily avoid. We will be photographing inside a church. 8. Covering the reception. We will be on location. 9. Managing your files after the event is complete. 10. Final delivery to your clients. WHITTIER, CALIF – Michelle De La Vara is busy organizing and renovating the well-known studio where generations of local families went to have personal histories and precious memories captured. She is deeply aware that the transition is much more than a renovation. She is recreating a special space that many consider part of their own family tradition, while at the same time honoring her talent and the grit it took to bring her to this moment and place. Effective September 1 De La Vara took over the lease of photographer Rebecca Merlino’s studio which has been open more than 35 years in uptown Whittier. De La Vara will continue to offer the portrait and studio sittings for which Merlino became renowned.
